Cloud and Campus Bridging Using Globus Software-as-a-Service

Tuesday, October 6, 2015 | 2:00 - 2:50 p.m.

Globus is fast becoming the preferred service for moving and sharing research data among R&E institutions using a wide variety of HPC and campus computing resources. With the recent release of data publication and discovery capabilities, Globus now provides useful tools for managing data at every stage of the research lifecycle. Further, recent enhancements enable users to access cloud storage resources such as Amazon S3 via the Globus service and to easily move and share data among these resources. When combined with the Science DMZ approach being adopted by many institutions, Globus allows campus IT providers to deliver robust, high performance data management services that fully exploit the available advanced networking capabilities. In this session, we will describe Globus functionality and use cases from both an end-user and provider perspective, and will illustrate the ease with which Globus services may be deployed on, and integrated with existing campus IT infrastructure.

Who should attend: Research computing/HPC system administrators, high-performance computing resource providers, network administrators, and anyone involved in the delivery of advanced computing, storage, and data publication infrastructure for non-profit research and educational institutions.
